Owning a dog is a very involved process, from walking them on a regular basis to making sure they have a healthy and fulfilling diet. Perhaps the hardest part about owning a dog is ensuring that it is clean and well groomed. It might sound easy enough a task, but every dog owner knows that getting a dog to sit still through any lengthy cleaning process is nigh impossible. They fiddle, they bark, they jump and they do whatever they can to escape your clutches. Luckily, there is a service that can save you time and a whole lot of scratches while also giving you a happy and healthy pet: dog grooming.

Dog Grooming

Dog grooming remains a very popular service amongst owners of all different sorts of dogs, from the miniature poodles to the great Danes. The main benefit of dog grooming is that it not only saves you time, but also gives you a much deeper and longer-lasting clean than you could achieve in your home. Dog grooming can do all sorts of things, including:

  • Brushing
  • Shampooing
  • Clipping their nails
  • Hair trimming
  • Private parts cleaned
  • All over body wash
  • Blow and towel drying

And those are just the basic areas covered. Some dog grooming areas have much more specific procedures regarding a dogs paws, eyes or skin care in general.

Isn't It Painful For The Dog?

Dog grooming experts deal with your canine friends all day, every day. They are very good at reading a dogs' body language for signs of distress and agitation, and if they begin to see the symptoms of this behaviour, they will stop and comfort the dog. None of the procedures listed above are painful for dogs, especially in the hands of a professional who has done them all hundreds of times. In fact you are much more likely to accidentally hurt your dog while brushing or clipping it simply because you don't have the same level of experience as those that work in dog grooming companies do.

Is It Expensive?

Dog grooming is not as expensive as you may think, especially given the amount of services you get. For small dogs, cleans can be as little as $50 all the way up to a bit over $100 for larger dogs; it all depends on the place you go to. What you need to bear in mind is that this is not an every-week service you are getting. Dog grooming is a full refresher for your dog's hygiene that you only need to do once a month or less. During the rest of the month, a dog's maintenance requirement is much lower because of the grooming, and therefore the cost is even lower when you spread it out over that time in between sessions.

Advice When You Add A Pony To The Family

When I was a child, I desperately wanted a horse as a pet, but our family circumstances meant it was not feasible. Flash forward 30 years later, and last year we were able to get a pony for my little girl. There is a lot to know about having a horse for a pet, so I created a blog where I could share everything we learned once the horse joined our family. From riding safety to horse feed, learning to ride to hoof care, my blog posts are all about horses. I hope that my advice is helpful once you decide to add this amazing animal to your family.
